Located 25 steps from the Skykomish River in Baring, Washington, the 'South Fork Cabin' is the perfect destination for outdoorsy types looking to get away from the stresses of everyday life. This rustic vacation rental cabin offers 6 guests 3 queen beds between the bedroom and loft, and the opportunity to spend days swimming in the river or hiking along nearby trails. Enjoy the fire pit at night and access to hiking trails, skiing at Stevens Pass Resort, and many more outdoor adventures.

Welcome to South Fork Cabin! We bought this property as a weekend getaway for our family, and named it South Fork Cabin since we're right on the South Fork of the Skykomish River. It recently underwent a full interior renovation in the fall of 2017, and we're planning on doing additional exterior work shortly so we hope you visit again. Enjoy your stay! Note: - Our Wifi is t-mobile wireless internet which is pretty fast and stable. - We don't provide firewood or fire starter. Please pick them up on the way here from the local store grocery store.
Other Details to Note
RIVER ACCESS You can access the river directly in front of the cabin, or there is a small community beach nearby about 50 feet away. If you're facing the river, head right onto the trail/main pathway, and then turn left. In the summer months, water levels are low and the river is usually calm enough for water activities. The current move quickly though depending on the changing conditions so please use your best judgement. There is a hose on the side of the cabin that can be used to rinse off sand before going back inside. During the rest of the year, the currents are VERY strong and water levels rise rapidly during storms so exercise extreme caution as you get near the water.

PATHWAY in FRONT of CABIN You'll find that the cabin is quiet and pretty private, but there is a public easement along the river that is "technically" public access. With that said, few people ever walk through the property.

Ok really, there aren't any restaurants that are super close to the cabin. With that said, there are options if you're willing to drive 20-30 minutes. EXPRESSO CHALET 5000 Stevens Pass Hwy, Gold Bar, WA 98251 Our favorite spot in the area! It may not look like much from the highway but they have a back deck with amazing scenic views you can enjoy while drinking coffee. RICO'S PIZZA 40709 State Rte 2, Gold Bar, WA 98251 Offers delivery or dine-in. WALLACE FALLS CAFE' 429 Croft Ave, Gold Bar, WA 98251 Diverse menu with both diner classics AND Vietnamese food. VICKI'S BURGER SHACK 930 W Stevens Ave, Sultan, WA 98294 Great burgers but it's definitely the furthest out of these options. We usually like to stop by on the way home back to Seattle. SKY DELI 148 N 5th St, Skykomish, WA 98288 Deli with sandwiches, ice cream, and other convenience store items like snacks and drinks. Non-outdoorsy Activities GREAT NORTHERN & CASCADE RAILWAY 101 N 5th ST, Skykomish, WA 98288 On weekends, from May, - October, they offer free mini train rides (donations accepted) which our kids love. There's also a small museum and store on site that is open year round. THE RED DOOR 301 Croft Ave W, Gold Bar, WA 98251 Great antique store with furniture, decors, and fun vintage knickknacks. LEAVENWORTH VILLAGE Leavenworth is a Bavarian-styled village with fun shops and restaurants about 1 hour drive east on Highway 2. It's totally doable for a day-trip but during the winter, please be aware that there may be snow/icy road conditions over the pass and may require chains.
